Kohler K301 engine break in oil

I guess the 73 john deere I have with the original, un-rebuilt Kohler K series must be a miracle of some sort then???
Most every manual I have ever seen for a tractor says to mow with the throttle lever in the fast position. Many newer push lawn mowers do not have a throttle adjustment lever, they are either running full throttle or off.
3600 is not excessive rpm.

I have a '70 John Deere 112 with a Kohler K241 10 HP. It is all original with many, many hours on it and is just now ready for an overhaul. It has been run on "fast" (3600 RPM I believe) like the manual recommends its whole life while blowing snow and mowing grass.
