I bought this vehicle brand new last December, got a good deal on the 2006. For some reason, this vehicle gets some bad rap. The engine is solid, great acceleration, lags a bit when you stomp on it at highway speeds. Fuel mileage is OK, but is doing good on a diet of Mobil 5w-30 and a K&N filter. Does anyone own one, or know anybody that does. Please weigh in.........

This tells us which make and which engine, but not which model. My question would be...do you have a source for parts other than the Kia dealer? If yes, do they keep brake parts in stock? How fast can they get a starter if needed? I wouldn't want to depend only on the dealer.

I've got an '03 Sedona that (knock on wood) has been fantastic. It's got the 3.5L in it. Chews up the oil pretty good, but I use Mystik 10W-40 Semi-Syn and it *loves* it. I also use Citgo 10W-40 and it likes it too, but not as much. In the winter I use Citgo 5W-30 but I might change that this year. On the road with the A/C on full we get 22 mpg. Around town we average 17-18. Remember - it's a minivan.

We also test drove the new Sedona (new in 06 I think) with the 3.8L, rated for 5 mpg better mileage than we get now. It's also much stronger and in every way I could find a nicer minivan - I'm not sure I liked the Hyundai variation as much, to tell the truth.

It's a good car, but these are my thoughts, too. It's even worse if there is no local dealer.

My son bought a Sedona ...didn't ask what I thought ahead of time. The thing's a pig on gas. The depreciation is the big hit ..and the 60k service which typically means that you get milked for a valve adjustment ($$$$). It's got multiple chains ...so probably would be a relative meat grinder on oil compared to other engines.

So far, it's flawless in service.
