Any ideas out there? 2020 Sierra, truck stopped responding to key fobs lock and unlock buttons. The passive door button work for both lock and unlock. Truck starts fine with key fob. But no longer responds to touching the lock or unlock button on remotes. Tried both remotes and same thing.

That's odd, i don't imagine both batteries went bad at the same time. With all the modules modern cars have I'd start by leaving the truck without power overnight and reconnect the battery in the morning. Maybe that force resets something. On my 2021 cadillac's key fob the battery was rather easy to remove and mine was a 2450 but I think the fobs are different for the pickups so check what battery yours takes.

A youtube video showed to take the key out and push it into a slot to pop the cover off. I'm surprised that big 2450 battery didn't even last 4 years. Batteries aren't much so I'd just go ahead and buy two new ones right now instead of keeping the old batteries in the fobs. I find the energizers to be the best. They probably arent far from giving the low battery message on the dash like mine did.

I have not, I thought the odds of batteries both going bad on the same day with different use history seems pretty low.
Although I agree with your logic, you're applying it to a couple of 10 cent batteries that may have been manufactured during the early days of the pandemic?

I'd spend the $3 for a couple of new batteries and try again. Try the cheap and easy wins first.

Yeah I’ll give it a try, I probably have some in a drawer somewhere.

"Cross the T's and dot the I's".
See what the volt meter says.
Besides fob battery health and cleanliness, might the vehicle's battery be borderline?
Pushing a lock/unlock button must energize a relay.

I’ll have to check the vehicles battery but will be surprised if that’s it as it’s only 4 months old.
