I see that GM has now listed Kendall GT-1 5W-30 on their list of approved lubes (so I guess they've coughed up the fee):

I'm wondering, however, if this is the synthetic blend or the full synthetic; they're both referred to as GT-1. I've checked the Kendall website, but no mention of the new dexos approval. Does anyone know? Haven't seen this discussed here on BITOG.

It is synthetic base per the MSDS, but is it not the same as the GT1 blend or GT synthetic.

Kendall Dexos, no Titanium listed, slightly lower Sulfated Ash, same HTHS 3.2 as Kendall 5w30 blend

For comparison,
Kendall GT1 blend

Kendall GT1 synthetic

The DEXOS version also meets HTO6 spec as well. I'm curious to why the DEXOS version doesn't contain titanium and if it contains moly or something else instead.

They reformulated the oil without their signature Titanium additive to get dexos approval?

They must have seen some real marketing value in dexos.

It's been reformulated with a higher HTHS. This seems a common trend with Dexos, HTHS up around 3.2-3.3 rather than 3.0-3.1 like most 5w30 GF-5s

Yes, and isn't it identical to certain Conoco, Phillips, and 76 labeled oils? Not all, and maybe not all three other CP brands, but Kendall oils are nothing unique.
