What do you all know or think about Kendall gt-1 full synthetic? I can get it from my work for $2.25 a quart for 0W-20, however this oil does not say DEXOS on the bottle. I'm wondering if its even worth putting into my 2014 Silverado or should I just stick with Amsoil?

It is top notch oil and the price you mentioned is excellent. Similar to Motorcraft full synthetic I would imagine since it's made by the same company.

I work for truck repair chain that recently switched from Mobil oil to P66 oil. We get some killer prices on the P66 oil and P66 has a refinery right down the street. Plus at $2.25/quart, you can see how much the retail stores mark up the price of oil. I'm wondering about the full synthetic not carrying the Dexos rating when semi-synethics like AC Delco are Dexos rated. I wonder if P-66 maybe doesn't want to pay the licensing fee.

I'd use it at that price and not lose sleep about it. Think about all the money you will save AND you dont need to pay a fee to be a preferred customer.

I doubt the licensing fee part. Because if it still passed DEXOS Phillips likely would go the Royal Purple route and simply state exceeds DEXOS-1 and not blend a specific blend with a DEXOS license. GT-1 does not impress me outside its price point when I can get it for 2.99 at the 99 cent only store.

Everything I have ever read or heard about Kendall GT-1 full synthetic full synthetic says it's a good quality product. I was going to get some imported here, but the price was a bit too much. Your price however is excellent and I say: Go For It.

It's the top line product of Phillips66 and as such is their only product with their special Titanium (Ti) additive. They also make a Kendall Dexos1 oil, but it doesn't have the Ti add. I could never work out exactly why, maybe Ti is not an approved add for Dexos. Maybe they didn't want to go through the expense of getting it tested and approved. Not sure, but I would happily use either : Kendall synthetic with Titanium, or Kendall synthetic with Dexos1. Unfortunately you can't get both in the same package.

Me? Since I don't need the Dexos for warranty reasons, I would get the special Titanium add pack. But again, both are excellent and I would be happy with either.

To me it's the Titanium add pack that makes Kendall standout from the pack, and that is the oil you will get. Enjoy it !

I posted in a thread a while back concerning Kendall Gt-1 full synthetic. I bought four cases from a distributor at a good price. I didn't have my GMC Sierra yet. Once I got it I was wondering whether the Kendall would meet Dexos 1 standards. I contacted Kendall via email asking them this very question. One of their engineers responded back to me and said the Gt-1 Full Synthetic met the Dexos 1 requirements and to use with confidence, and I have. The truck runs great with it.

Kendall is LOADED with Ti. The ad pack is on the weak side(compared to some SOPUS oils) but it holds up and is good for 10K.

I have not seen one bad UOA on Kendall. It is a good oil that is "taxi tested tough" to 10k miles.

Use it with confidence! .. Where I live we have a local shop and the owner is a master GM teck he also teaches auto shop at the local college. He made the switch to all Kendall oil several years ago most cars and trucks get the simi synthetic with most high performance cars getting the full synthetic.

That's a great price for ANY full synthetic! It will probably be just fine in your Silverado

The new red bottle Kendall lineup includes: GT-1 Max, GT-1 Dexos, GT-1 Euro, GT-1 Synthetic Blend, GT-1 Endurance High Milage, a couple of GT-1 competition oils and GT-1 straight 30 & 40 weight oils. The GT-1 Dexos oil does not contain Titanium like the rest of the lineup. The oil distributor I buy the Kendall oil from carries the full line but I just get the GT-1 Max at $3.08 a quart / 12 qts per case.

You can find the PQIA VOA for GT1 on their website. A bit old now but it provided the normal data rundown. If memory serves it was a very good looking mix.

I sent a request into Kendall to get their official take on it, this is what they wrote back to me:

"Unfortunately, our GT-1 Full Synthetic with Liquid Titanium 0w-20 will not meet GM’s dexos1 specification. Our product that does meet the spec is our GT-1 Dexos1 0w-20. For warranty purposes we would recommend going with a product that meets the dexos1 specification as this spec is more stringent than the majority of specifications in the North American market and requires additional testing that our GT-1 Full Synthetic with Liquid Titanium products do not undergo."

Looks like I will use the oil I got in my Hyundai since my Hyundai only requires GF3 and then see if my work can get the Dexos rated 0W20 for a good price.

I am running Kendall fully synthetic 5w30(not dexos) in my tacomas and in my wife's 4Runner and love it. 10w30 is in my full size 93 Chevy and doing just fine. Switched from M1 about a year ago and my wallet is happy.

Hey, do the new red bottles have a seal under the cap? Like the "old grey kendall bottles" do? :P

I have not seen a red bottle Kendall oil yet.
