Has any ever heard of or used kendalls classic atf? I am looking to change my fluid in my 96 F250 with E4OD... I do like there oil but what worries me is it says on there lable " high quality transmission fluid recommend for use in all domestic and imports NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY where the OEM previously spe cified for dex 3 and mercon. For electronic control transmissions"

So what are they saying? It's not good enough if the car was under warranty?

They're saying there are no cars under warranty that spec that fluid. They are trying to keep people with new cars from pouring it into their trans, then blaming the subsequent problems on Kendall.

Kendall seems to have good products. I'd be okay with using that ATF in that truck, it might work better than Mercon V for an E4OD.

+1 looking at buying a case on amazon for my 97 e4od. i imagine its near the same as the motorcraft mercon as conoco phillips makes them both.

and to not create another thread how about the peak dex/merc, any good?

My only guess about the not-under-warranty part is that this is not a licensed fluid...and, of course, the only licensed Dex-III fluid carries the Allison TES-389 spec and there are no licensed Mercon fluids.

Kendall is good, but nothing special enough to pay more than any local Dex-III/Mercon product.

Agreed.

I use it frequently at the shop I work at and haven't noticed any issues.
