Anybody have info or knowledge on Kendall 5w-40 SHP Full Synthetic CJ4? Ran across and curious how it compares to Delvac 5w-40 CJ4. Take care.

It looks quite serviceable, after I tracked down the sheet. I don't exactly like how they're claiming E9 and E7 from 2008, but that's far from the end of the world. It's hard to compete with what we're used to with the Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40, but if you can find a good price, I can't see why not. Kendall oils and its cousins are very hard to find up here, unfortunately. There isn't even a distributor listed in the province, though they're used to be one a hundred miles or so from here.

Thanks again Garak...always appreciate your responses. Found it for around $24 a gallon...just curious. Take care all.

I used the 15W40 SynBlend and really liked it. Amazon had it cheap and I gave it a try. Very smooth in my 6.7 and would not hesitate to use it again. Not the same as the 5W40 you are looking at, but I thought I would share my experience with Kendall HDEO.

I remember your posts...looks like the 5w-40 doesn't have or use the liquid titanium technology. Thanks.

Of course. Ford wants an approved oil where possible, unless it's a CJ-4, which can be unapproved, and the viscosity doesn't matter much, unless you go to severe service, where you are supposed to use a 5w-40 synthetic, which should be CJ-4 (and the 5w-40 synthetics seem to be the first ones disappearing in CJ-4) or Ford approved (which is late arriving).

In any case, that Kendall is at a fairly attractive price point, on either side of the border. Delvac 1 beats it marginally up here by pricing, but Imperial Oil prices their HDEOs to move quickly in this city.

Will be interesting to see where all this CJ4, CK4 goes with Ford. Hopefully I get another shot on Delvac 5w40 CJ4 sales this year. Garak, has the $12 a gallon rebate been available in Canada as well?

On the downside, no, we don't get a lot of rebates up here. I can't remember the last Mobil or Esso rebate. Shell does them once in a while, but I've never bothered. Regular retail pricing at the big stores is too high to chase rebates. The sales are better.

On the positive side, I get Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40 at around $25 a jug any day of the week at regular price (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck is like over $50 in stores). Delvac 1 LE 5w30 is even slightly cheaper. So, the Imperial Oil distributor gets my business. If I want oil, I want to be able to go out and buy it, not have to read every online flyer or phone every store to see if I need a second mortgage to buy oil.

Generally speaking, I can buy motor oil from just about any independent parts store cheaper than any regular price at Walmart Canada or Canadian Tire. When those two have a sale, they're good, but the rest of the time, look out. On regular retail pricing at those two places, Royal Purple is cheaper than Mobil 1 Extended Performance.
