Karcher pressure washer

Have a K5.585 electrical pressure washer. What detergent can I safely use? Manual says Karcher chemicals, but what can I really use?
If i use the brush, could I use say Turtle car shampoo?
Where does the detergent enter the system, I mean does it mix in before or after the pump? If after, then I suppose only the hose and handle will be affected, or?

you should use one that says its ok for power washers on it.

also make sure all the soap is out before turning it to high pressure.(or inserting the high pressure tip) whichever style you have.
