Yes GC and K&N oil filter are a good combo and may be run a year or longer. DO use analysis to verify at some point to verify in YOUR specific application.

Get yourself a pump and do a UOA with Terry at 6 months. That should give Terry enough data to tell you how much mileage you've got left.

Now without a model/make/year/engine I had to guess and assume that you have a newer Nissan and not one that takes the 3/4-16 thread (aka something like a 1992 Stanza)

So the gasket is a little off, but I wouldn't worry too much about it since many filters that xref show this difference in my travels. That is, if you plug some Donalson filters into Wix the Donaldson may have a 2.4x" OD gasket while the Wix will have a 2.8x" gasket in their number ...or the other way around sometimes.

which one should I get? Mobil 1 or K&N? reason why I asked is becuz I heard Mobil 1 wasn't worth the money for what you got...and K&N was actually better constructed...etc

Is there another synthetic filter that allows me to run 1 year without worrying about anything?

btw, Mobil 1 M105 = K&N HP-1005? I just wanted to make sure...I would like to run an oversized filter for my car...just becuz it will be on the car for long time...and I know for sure the M105 will fit on a VQ35DE from a nissan maxima...I just wanted to find the equivalent for K&N...since I heard k&N is better than mobil1, when it comes to oil filters

A PureOne will last a year at a very fine level of filtration, relatively speaking. Any of the good ones (WIX, M1, PureOne, etc.) would make it just fine. Since Terry gave you the K&N recommendation ..go with that.

The HP-1005 is what K&N's site puked out when I put in M1105 (M1-105). try here

How much is a Pureone filter at Pepboys? if I remember correctly, Puralator filters come in different model lines? Which one are we talking about here? And do they perform just fine if I slap it on, and leave it there for a year?

How about Super Tech filters? Can I just run GC for 9k, but change out to ST filters every 3k? They are sooo cheap at walmart ($2.05 per filter!)

SO I got this gift certificate from autozone...I'm interested in picking up a K&N filter, with some GC Green (they still have some left!)...anyway, I'm currently running GC and I love it...but run regular Nissan oil filters...Im running a 7k OCI with 3500 filter changes inbetween

Question is, can run the K&N filter for a full year? and the GC as well? I honestly don't put alot of miles per year...so I'm thinking of slapping on the synthetic oil filter and the GC...and calling it year...can the K&N handle it? I'm sure the GC will...

Oh one final question...does anyone know the K&N part # for the equivalent for Mobil1 filter M-105? Becuz the M-105 will fit my car (members have tried it, even though its not listed in the book) but I want to know the K&N part #...Thanks in advance!

PureOne is the finer Purolator filter. About $6. Work just fine for a year and longer. SuperTech is a decent filter. According to their data sheet it's got decent filtration. The low price is due to no advertising. I don't know how it compares to a PureOne.

gary, what would you go with, if you were in my shoes? I have an autozone gift card...it's supposedly loaded with $50...which is enough to get me GC and Mobil1/K&N filter

Would you rather pay $6 out of your pocket and go with Pureone? Or are the mobil1/K&n synthetic filters, superior to everything else below?

I'd stick with your original plan. I don't know K&N's composition ..I'm sure that it's a synthetic blend media of high quality.

Both M1 and K&N, and the Ecore for that matter (look at the second sticky up top), are made by Champion Labs...the first two being considered premium filters. I don't currently extend my wallet more then $6 for a filter. That's not the same as saying that there's no benefit from doing so.

I've been using a K&N oil filter with M1 in my Mazda6 for over 2 yrs. now, and i find the construction to be pretty solid, and that nut on top makes it so easy to get off. I pay 8.50 total for each one at AJUSA. I do change mine 2X a year with my oil changes.

Or, perhaps a Hastings filter made by Baldwin. One of the finest made filters out there. Baldwin makes over 4800 different filters at several plants in the USA. Main office is in Kearney, Nebraska. BTW Hastings Filter=Baldwin Filter.
