I guess I should have suspected that it might not be a USA product since Wix makes the NAPA filters, and I read that some Wix oil filters are being made outside the U.S. Normally, I try to buy products that are made in USA ... to try to help the economy/job situation in this country.

They are making the Oil filters cheaper and are making more profit from brand loyalty...

However what sucks is the Mexican K&N is not as good from what I have read and by the pics.. If they used the same materials in the USA made K&Ns and just had them made in Mexico and the price dropped then some people might not care.... However now they are made in Mexico and they are not made as well materials and they are being sold at a very HIGH PRICE.

I think K&N used to pride themselves as being USA product and USA Made.... I guess K&N needs the $... I looked on webkedia to see there worth of the company and it dont say.

probably private owned and no stocks could be why.. Not sure.

but I wont use K&N again.. probably not even if its part of a free deal.

How do you know their filter minder is better than others such as Wix ?

The last Napa Gold I bought for the Honda said made in Mexico. The ones I got for the Nissan and Toyota still said made in USA.

The Wix filter monitor is a fine unit but it's designed for up to 25 inches of water which is a little too much for passenger cars.

The K&N is designed for up to 10 inches of water which is more appropriate for a passenger car.

Build quality is negligible both are very nice quality.

These things have always been overpriced. Now that they have changed the design and make the things in Mex. or some other 3rd world country, their sales will go DOWN.
They will not get one dime of my money!

Be careful with AFE filters.
For example. HP-1004 has bypass valve, the same AFE 44-LF018 doesn't have.
