That's a pretty large cartridge filter for motorcycle engine. Sounds that this was the 2nd OCI, so the metal flakes you're seeing is probably still some break-in debris.

Thanks for the post! HiFlo makes the filters for K&N, so if you’re looking to save yourself some money for the same filter, you can use HiFlo’s website to find their filter numbers for your bike. I recently went through this exercise with my wife’s Honda Rebel 1100 DCT. The DCT has a very unique little booger of a filter and aside from Honda OEM, the only other one that makes a replacement is HiFlo (and a HiFlo carrying K&N markings).

How are you liking that Motul?

Cool bike!

From time to time, I’ve entertained the idea of getting something like that, that would be fun in the corners but not tempt me to ride at 120 mph like my old R1!

You should post some photos of the bike.

My Road Glide Limited can do 120 😆. Wild to do that speed on a half ton tank 🤣

What, downhill with a tailwind? 😆
AND drafting an SUV…but it’ll do it! 🤣

Seriously though, I’ve got an intake, full 2 into 1 exhaust and a dyno tune on it. The fastest I THINK I’ve gotten it to is 125-130. The speedo stops at 120 and it’ll get there no problem. It’s a ‘23 with the 114cu in engine in it. Liquid cooling around the exhaust seats as well.

That’s a fast Harley!

I rode a 96ci Softail once and it felt quick. That was back when 88ci was standard and 96ci was “big bore”.
