That is against the laws of nature. Nothing is as sturdy as duct tape.
 
Believe it or not, this is a perfectly normal and approved temporary repair. The tape is aluminum 'speed' tape and the repair is done simply to prevent moisture from entering the honeycomb structure and freezing at altitude.

It isn't a structural repair or a permanent repair but it is very common. Naturally the number of these temporary repairs that can be done on each individual flight control surface is limited as is the number of permanent repairs.
