Just Stop Oil vandals get hard time for throwing soup on van Gogh painting

5 years in prison.

Why not install clear plastic shield covering these painting ?
Plexiglass ?

Can't have a toaster in the barracks either. At 18 we can vote and die for our country but we aren't mature enough to toast bread or buy tobacco/alcohol. It is a fed law for alcohol and tobacco though....

At one point last decade we couldn't have tattoos larger than the palm of your hand. We can thank General Anu....I mean General Amos for that.
My daughter is a sergeant in the Marines and cant wear Bravos or Charlies because of the tattoos she has. Few are even USMC oriented and still no go. Saw her do pull ups in dress blues, pretty amazing.

That's crazy I didn't know that. I got out right around the tattoo policy but I never found out if the policy was reversed; instead it seems like it got worse. To not allow a Marine to wear their bravo/Charlie's because of tattoos is ridiculous. So many good Marines were given NJPs or page 11s and weren't able to re-up because of tattoos. We lost a lot of good leaders in that timeframe and then the brass doesn't have the foresight to wonder why they can't get recruits

Put them in a prison on a road gang and let them work it off at minimum wage.
Unlike here in the US, over there, they will spend their 2+ years in jail and so will their friends who did the same thing after those 2 were convicted.

The paintings are covered with glass and undamaged. The media doesnt tell you that up front. Well, some do. Just the frame is affected.

"The pair caused £10,000 worth of damage to the gold-coloured frame of the glass-covered painting in the October 2022 attack."

How much did it cost to take care of them arrest them and court costs?

How much did it cost to take care of them arrest them and court costs? They should pay everything X 4.

When you get a traffic ticket in Indiana, the court costs are often the largest part of payment; it's part of what you pay. I suspect that's similar in most States. Not sure if that's how it works in GB.

Remember those two protesters that threw tomato soup on the van Gogh painting before gluing themselves to the wall? They're probably very thankful that the soup only damaged the frame and not the painting itself, as those knuckleheads just got sentenced to two years and 20 months respectively. The extra several months that knucklehead #1 got was for blockading the road.

How will they glue themselves to the wall without oil? Pretty sure that's made from petrochemicals. I'm big on doing everything we can to mitigate climate chain but stopping oil is very short-sighted considering almost everything from the polyester in the shirts they're wearing to the glue gluing themselves to the wall is oil derived.

Apparently, everyone else needs to stop using oil... except for special people like them. Every revolutionary imagines themselves as a member of the central committee living in their own dacha.
