As the title implies, my wife and I agreed it was time to sell one of our vehicles since we are both retired and we basically go everywhere together anyway. The Frontier had less miles and still looks like it came off the showroom floor. Both of our vehicles were well-cared for, maintenance wise and appearance wise. So, it was decided that we would attempt to sell the Sierra. I have sold many of our vehicles over the years privately, but never in the manner and speed that went with this one.
Sunday mid-afternoon was when we decided to try and sell the truck. Ms. Sierra048 suggested placing an add on Facebook in some Marketplace section they have. I don't do Facebook so she helped me place an add with some pictures. I didn't now what to expect as far as interest or responses. The add was posted probably around 3:00 pm. By 6:00 pm we had over thirty inquiries from potential buyers. Granted, some were tire kickers but most came across as legitimately interested in purchasing the truck. Some became disinterested after finding out it wasn't a top end, loaded 4WD model. Others couldn't get enough information and kept corresponding with us. I priced it a little higher than I thought I could get due to some of the discussions I've seen recently here on BITOG concerning used car prices. A gentleman who was one of the first inquiries came out yesterday after work, test drove it, loved it and bought it. Just that quick.
Our truck, while nice looking and mechanically sound, wasn't some top end "Bro-Dozer" type vehicle. Just a standard 4 door, extended cab Sierra with the 4.3L V6. Not an SLT or SLE. No 4WD. This whole endeavor made me realize that there is certainly demand out there for used vehicles. And at higher resale values than I imagined. For those who have a vehicle they'd like to sell, now might not be a bad time to give it a go.
