Like the title says, I just put in my new (rebuilt) differential in the Corvette. Went from 3.4 rear end to 4.1...should make it much more fun, and better on the AutoX courses.

So...what fluid would you run? Remember this is a limited slip rear end.
I'm going to take it easy for the first 500 miles...should I dump and refill then? If not, when?

My go-to would just be the Mobil full synthetic with the limited slip additive already in the formula.

There is quite a few options.
If shopping at walmart the M1 is good.

Mail order you have: Motul, HPL, Amsoil etc.

I'd probably throw in something cheap for 500 or 1000 miles and change it..
so... Supertech?

The instructions for new R&P is drive for 15 minutes at up to 50 mph then let it cool for 30 minutes. Do that 3 times increasing speed to 65 mph. Then change fluid at 200 miles.
Lots of heat at friction in those first few miles.

I've used Royal Purple gear oil in my Mazda Rx-7 differential which has an lsd. The RP has lsd additives already in it. So far so good.

May not need 1st gear at all now…

It isn't all that dramatic...

What an extra 2 gears does wow. Growing up my dad had an elcamino with 4.11s at 65 in 4th think she was spinning at or around 3500.

I wouldn't use the Mobil but would rather go with the fluid GM recommends for the C5 which has the additive in it. I bet that car really moves out with the 4.10 gear ratio.
