I've been thinking about using 0w20. Would there be any fuel economy loss/gains between 5w20 and 0w20? In the dealership, they had a huge pop up billboard about genuine toyota synthetic 0w20, stating better fuel economy. But I doubt there would be any HUGE differences between the two.


If there is a gain in MPG it will be small.

Don't worry about it, you will literally never be able to blow that motor up.

As long as it gets a slippery oil ever 5k-10k miles it will be fine. Weight or brand doesn't really seem to matter.

No I am not. The 6g72 was rebuilt 23k miles ago. Forged pistons and rods. Everything was replaced. Replaced by who? Me.

The 1.8L 4cyl isn't a sludger that I am aware of and the Toyota's that were known for being sludge monsters were the '92-'03...2.2L 4cyl and the 3.0L V6.

2003 came a new 2.4L 4cyl and 2004 came the new 3.3L V6 which Toyota quickly changed to a 3.5L IIRC, by '06

Totyta did carry on the 3.0L V6 beyond 2003 into '04 or so, as a 1st upgrade engine beyond the 4cyl, in the Camry along with the new 3.3L V6.

I don't remember when Toyota finaly ditched the 3.0L V6

As of 2010, the Corolla is also available with the Camry 2.4L which may be considered the Corolla "S" model. The 2.4 may also be available as just an upgrade in a Corolla LE as well, IDK!
