I stopped using all tobacco products 2 years ago, quit smoking almost 8 years ago.. I hate, hate, hate the smell of a burning cig now.

With that said i stopped at the store a hour ago and was sitting in my car txting(being safe) before i left. I had the car running with the heat on.. As im looking at the phone i smell smoke.. Its coming in from the vents !! There are two guys standing on the sidewalk almost at my front bumper both smoking.. The cars HVAC system was sucking up the smoke and filling the interior of my car with it..

It was like the scene out of a comedy only i wasnt laughing and the inside of my car stunk something fierce..

I drove down the road with the windows down, its pretty cold here at the moment.. just trying to get that stink out of my car..

Like the subject line says.. "Just a rant"

I feel just a little better now.

I quit cigs two years ago and still enjoy the smell, but less and less so as time goes on. Congrats on kicking the habit.

That sucks, sorry man. I HATE smoking, think it's a disgusting habit,a nd good for you for quitting. I'd love to ban smoking altogether, but the Libertarian in me tells me thats wrong, haha. Like it or not, it's still their personal right to smoke on public property, unless expressly disallowed.

Never a smoker but I really like (due to psychological association) the smell of freshly lit, light cigarette aroma. Reminds me of my grandpa and theme parks, but anything stronger than that faint aroma and it's disgusting. Totally feel you on that Otis (and congrats on quitting too!)

I've mastered in a Honda slapping the exterior vent shut.

Sometimes a oil burner passes in front of me and I've gotten quick enough that the car doesn't fill with stink!

I used to share offices with smoking co-workers (never picked up the habit myself) and thought nothing of it. If it bothered me, it wasn't a big deal and I got used to it. Never noticed second-hand smoke out in public.

Fast forward 25 years when no one smokes indoors in ANY public building anymore... and when I'm in slow moving traffic sometimes I can smell the guy smoking a cig in his OWN car two cars ahead of me!

I hate the smell of smoking as well, the plus side is its pretty rare in the US these days.

Outside of this country especially in the islands everyone smokes. Heck I was having breakfast at a Denny's one morning and a French couple lite up right next to me.

shoot... wish i would have thought of that... good tip !

and no, i dont think these two fellas were in the wrong, they were outside just doing their thing.. I was parked in the wrong place at the wrong time.. plain and simple.

I hear you on the smell being disgusting. Smokers are the only group of people that I have a prejudice against, mainly because a former girlfriend hid the fact that she was a smoker from me for 4 years.

Back in my gambling days, I would leave a table if someone would sit next to me and start smoking. I'd even tell them that their smoke was the reason I was leaving.

You should have "accidentally" bumped you car into gear and run them over to hasten what they were doing to themselves.

I've never understood the desire to stick a cigarette in one's mouth, light it, and suck on it while it's burning. Not only the disgusting smell that smokers have wafting around them at all times, but knowing with each suck of the smoke you're damaging your mouth, throat and lungs.

Add to that the financial cost of their choice to smoke-both up front and in increased medical expenses. I can't imagine spending that much money just to suck on tobacco and walk around stinking all the time.

I never understood the attraction of cigarettes, but cigars now.

A cigar and scotch on the back of the boat after dinner is a very nice thing indeed.

But not very often, I smoke maybe 10-12 cigars a year.

I agree with the sentiment that pipe smoke is pleasant.

My dad used to clean guns and smoke a pipe when he was my age now, so the smell is nostalgic as I smelled it when watching him intently as a 4 year old!

Maybe I'll buy a pipe!

2 stroke outboard and diesel smoke does that for me, reminds me of growing up and early morning fishing excursions.

You advocate retaliating for inconvenience with murder? SERIOUSLY?!?!
