Is it possible to make the text in the Replies column clickable and have it jump you to the newest UNREAD post in a thread ? In the screenshot shown, there is just (1) unread/new post in that thread (a thread I've already read through some of). It would definitely be much handier when there are 'many' new posts of course. Clicking the link in the Last Post column isn't the same. If there are 287 NEW posts, clicking the 'last post' link will jump all the way past the other 286 new posts.

Yes, that works but the problem is, it carries over to a thread that I have NOT read. For example, the thread titled "Posting pictures". I have NOT read any of it and when I click the thread title, it jumped me to the last post (bold). I did that with another thread (not bold) and it took me to the first post. The behavior is inconsistent so I don't use it. What I think I've noticed is it bases the behavior on something stupid - if there's new posts in the thread since I viewed the forum it's in or something. This is something about the UBB software that's "broken", IMO. If I haven't viewed a thread, it should be bold, forever, until I read it. It doesn't do that.

Thanks

By the way, it seemed to behave the same way on the old s/w and I just lived with it. I was hoping it might be changed/fixed in the new s/w.

If I just click the title of the thread ... not the new post number ... it will jump to the first new post. Worked the same with the old system too.

Was the thread title bold or normal ? Try it with either and see if the behavior changes.

Bold thread title will show up when there are new posts. Click the thread title and it should take you to the first new post in the thread.

For reference, Wayne, it's actually been working correctly for me all along, working the same before and after the update. I don't know if my browsing behaviour has anything to do with it. When I am done browsing the site, I log out and all browser cookies are cleared upon exit.

Initially when the forum was updated it wasn't jumping all the way down to unread posts.

However, it definitely is for me now.

As I said, there appears to be - at least for me - a certain circumstance where it works 'wrong'. I just tried this thread, https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/foru...46/gonew/1/sonata-engine-knocking-recall, by clicking on the thread title and it took me to the 3rd or 4th from the end post. Note: I have NOT read ANY of the posts in that thread previously. In my case, it should start at post # 1. If it's taking me to the first unread (new ?) post since I visited the site or visited that forum, well, that's a silly way to do that....

Are you logging out and logging back in? If you log out it could be that the cookies get cleared, and when you log back in that might be what's causing what you're seeing. Click the "remember me" box when you log in and don't log out.

Come to think of it, there have been a few times when I've noticed some of the threads didn't seem to jump to the first new post ... and what it looked like was that for some reason the threads (whole board?) "cleared" themselves like there were already read. I think I noticed that with the old system a few times.

Are you logged in with two devices at the same time? ... ie, a desktop and a cell phone? I do that sometimes, and noticed they don't always since up right if you're bouncing between the two devices.

The only time that I have seen a thread not jump to the first unread post is when there are pictures posted from certain hosting websites. Most of the time this happens it with Car51's posts. Sorry Adam!

Some info on something I just noticed. With the old system, if I was logged in with my desktop and with my cell phone at the same time, they would both show the same threads that had new posts and showed the thread title as bold with the number of new posts in red text in parentheses next to the post count. If I read new posts on the cell phone, they would also show as read on the desktop and vice versa. But with the new system, it no longer will keep the two devices in "sync". Just something I noticed that doesn't work the same.

I've noticed this too, as I switch throughout the day between my iPhone and iPad, but I wasn't going to bring it up yet since they're probably pretty busy with bigger problems

That happens in any thread that has a "#" character in the subject line. That character in the subject line confuses the URL, and will bring you to the top of the first unread page, rather than the first unread post on the first unread page.
