I have the same jump starter mentioned here and about 5 years old,

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/jump-n-carry-jnc318.286091/

Just tried to use it and it's pretty much dead. Charged it a few hours until it showed 100%, and when I try to use it, drops to 44% instantly. It came with a repair coupon that says for $85 they will recondition or replace with a refurbished unit. Is it worth it? This has been discontinued so will they replace it with the current model? Anybody use that coupon?

First off ........ what did you pay for it ? Now $ 85 seems like alot just to recondition it , You probably shoulda kept it charged at 50% while it was in storage .

Don't do it. You can get a new GOOLOO GP4000 on Amazon on sale right now for $99.98 with a warranty. I'm pretty sure it rated #1 in the Project Farm test video.

The display always showed 104% to 107% even after 6 months so there was no reason to charge it. What would keeping charged at 50% have done and can you even do that?

Get a Noco or similar type charger. They work better and are also much lighter :D

I read the reviews on the Noco back then before buying this one and were pretty bad. And what the h is GOOLOO? Sounds like a British toilet manufacturer. I have a regular heavy jump box and only use this lithium style when I have to take a bus or subway to pick up a car, so not in a big hurry.

I have a Gooloo, and it works great :)

I would not pay the $85 either, would not want to throw good money after bad. In fact I'd toss the unit and get something else. Many good options out there.

Do a little homework-you may be able to split the case & replace the battery-I did it on my Clore JNC-660 and it was CHEAPER than Clore’s “discount”! Believe mine came from Home Depot IIRC.

I was an unfortunate victim to JNCs botched roll out of the then new JNC770 series a few years back. Jump started one lawn mower and the circuit panel died. There is no warranty on them, just a single repair coupon provided. Similar deal, $100 for a refurb but you are on the hook for shipping. I went to USPS and they wanted roughly $60 for shipping it. I ended up tossing it. JNC has lost my business.

I have few of them at home, shop, barn & trucks. When battery dies I buy replacement from Amazon, much less than OEM. Just remove the cover to see battery specs. I buy the cheapest battery, they work for years.
