Jugs vs. Quart Bottles

5 quart jugs are perfect for my Duramax diesel as the crankcase capacity is 10 quarts, or, 2 jugs.

they would also be perfect for powerstrokes, 15 qts or 3 jugs. gallons work good for cummins, 12 qts or 3 gallons.

They come in handy and are great to have hanging around!You never know when you need to dump something in em.

It's about time they came around to selling jugs. What a waste it was throwing out 4 or 5 quart bottles plus the clingage loss with each oil change. (Myself, I salvage the dregs with overnight drains.)

my dad does the same thing, its crazy how much you get out after you combine the left overs when you are changing the oil on 7 cars.

Jugs should always be cheaper, but sometimes aren't. Book for my Cavalier Ecotec says 5.8 quarts. A 5 qt jug brings it over the full mark on the dip stick. My truck takes 6 quarts. Works out about right if I catch a case of quarts on special once in a while. Besides, a Pennzoil case is just right to hold 3 years of National Geographic.

I find the bottom half of the 5 qt jugs good for holding stuff like nuts and bolts.

i bought a crap load of Cases back when Havoline could be had for 15 buck a case or cheaper.

i may switch to the 5 quart jugs or 2 gallon containers.

i have quite a stash of quart bottles just because of the sales.

I've always been something of a 'jug' man.

What was the question?

Oh, right. Yes, I definitely prefer a 4/5 Qt container. Have an old plastic measuring cup I stole from the wife's kitchen. I pour the 'unneeded' amount out of a new jug into the cup, then pour the jug into the engine. Then put the 'extra' oil back into either a qt bottle or the jug depending on what I've got going on.

Using lots of qt bottles is a silly PITA if you ask me.
