As suggested, let's get some good shots of the car. I just got it Friday and its not on the road yet so its a good time. Also the weekend... no work until Monday so let's get that started.

The paint needs an exterior wash and wax and the inside isn't bad but could also use a cleaning.

Let's get some photos going so we can see what we are working with. And if somehow it FAILS.. somehow?? Then it can stay right where it is and the Subaru or Taurus can go to work. Options.

Okay lets begin, will take some time to focus on good shots rather than rapid fire bursts of bad shots.

Mileage: 124,757
Year Make Model: 1993 Infiniti J30
Condition: Appears to be Very Good-Excellent

Perhaps the best photos I have of it so far are below.

Good start. Car looks good from the pics. Recommend you get stored and pending codes read at an AZ, and report back. Also grab some pics of the interior and underside.

Why are the fuses and relays uncovered? What is blown or what doesn’t work?

Any rust?

What records did the seller provide or did you find, relative to maintenance?

All four tires match? Tread depth?

Pull the wheels and look at the brake pad thickness.

Let’s think about how we baseline the maintenance of this car. Full filter replacement, fluids replacement, etc. Lets work on planning this and making it a smart progression, together.

Car is a 1993, no OBD2 unless this model had that.

Tires? Will look again... Dunlop Sport A2.

I can see some slight rust around the sunroof, I will probably never open the sunroof. I used to like them now I'm not so sure I do...

Yesterday, I took soapy water and a sponge and cleaned off guano. It's still there. No wash yet...

Interior:

And some outside

I have to crawl under it.

Seller didn't give me any records, just "This car been in family for awhile time to let it go and I have 4 cars" and actually drove it here to sell it so. "Could be anything." Another leap of faith type purchase but.. so far, the condition seems in line with what was represented.

I do/did need a car ready to go and get me where I need to go, being proven reliable,

with little if any things needed. Sooner rather than later which is where we are.

Congrats, looking forward to seeing how it treats you over the next few months/years. As an older car guy myself, I can empathize with your purchase. 120xxx miles leaves an awful lot left in the tank, pun intended.

Has the airbag been deployed on the steering wheel? It looks weird
It's chalky, like the bumper trim on an old Audi wagon that has sat to the elements a long time. I get to take some interior cleaner and wipes over everything.

This car might be sitting here longer than I thought.. the appointment to get the plates is February 8th, they do it by appointment now.

It used to be about two weeks.

Oh well. This is win-win-win.. Three cars. One works fine, one is about to come back, one is the one you see here. Options.

If it wasn't so cold out, I would take out the garden hose and wash it.

Not taking it too far, one thing I like about this opportunity to photograph and look at the car etc is that it doesn't have any assigned license plates right now. So moving it around in front of the house? Yeah.

Please see above post.. Looks like i'm not taking it to work next week. Rats.

The rarity factor also did entice me.

Let me see what else I can do, show you all the paint.. I did have to wash off guano and it's cold outside. Middle of January. Of course. But let me take a peek before I go meander and just mill about the house, cleaning things up etc.

Radio doesn't work. Will check continuity of all fuses.

Let's go see what camera wants to do now. May wash it anyways . If hose isn't frozen...

Good luck with your Infiniti. We've had our M35 for 13 years with nary a problem. On yours, one of the first things I'd want to know is the condition of the timing belt and if it looks like it was ever changed.
