John Force announces retirement

John is smart. You can tell he has a bit of a hard time getting the right words out. Before he could talk a mile a minute. And drag racing is all about having lightning fast reaction times. This last accident hurt him far worse than most think.

He's lucky to be alert, and walking and talking. He'll enjoy being around his wife and grandkids a lot more. He made a wise choice.

Been watchin John Force win racing since I was a kid and he looked like a cooked sausage in his firesuit. I put him up there with some of my other favs like Garlits, Prudhomme, Kalitta, Glidden, Bernstein, and Shirley (Muldowney). What an era of drag racing he was a big part of. All those wins and championships are a testament to his shear grit and determination. Thoroughly convinced his prophecy of not quitting until his car took him out would come true, and it almost did this last time. You can tell his bell was rung pretty good and it finally made him realize that it was time. Thanks for the memories John, you the man.

He'll be missed. I think he was a great spokesman for drag racing. I'm glad he's made some recovery, he's been my favorite racer. I hope he's as entertained in his retirement as I've been by him racing.

I had hoped that he would make at least another run. No one's last pass should be a catastrophe, unfortunately it happens from time to time. ie Eddie Hill, Darrell Gwynn.

It's definitely a smart decision and I don't get the impression he's going anywhere. It sounded to me like a "rebirth" of sorts for JFR.

Another thing to consider, is the fact his company, (John Force Racing), is very well set up and run. Many of his family members are involved with its financial success. Bottom line, he's still going to be making and earning a fortune in retirement.
