Hi,

I thought I'd start my first post on BITOG with a VOA on JD Plus-50 II 5W-40.
This is actually one of the cheapest oils you can buy in Norway, with a suggested retail price of about $6 per quart.

Is it worth it?

John Deere isn't a budget brand 😱
Where was this one made? Here I've seen USA and Canada made. Some say it's made by Shell, but I've seen Mobil in the past too. Probably depending on the contract negociated.

I've used the 0W40 when I was able to get it for cheap, not anymore. Add pack looks similar in these VOA.

SDS says Univar Solutions = Shell

There is a significant difference in cold starts between this oil and a 5W-30 oil that I have also used this winter.
This oil feels very sticky and thick.

Welcome to BITOG! It is very helpful & an excellent first post. Yes, it's a good oil. I've added your results to the list in my sig & you can also see the 15w-40 version there as well. Thank you!
