I tried to find some real life data on JD oils, but not much. So , is anyone in here using their oil and what type?

cut and paste this high zinc in a lighter weight oil that we all can use not silly 20w-50 in a toyota!

Deere has HDEOs. They work in automotive applications too. Their 0w40 is particularly interesting.

Totally agree, Bob. I use their 0-40 (made by XOM Canada, if memory serves) in my diesel stuff.

I was just trying to figure out the word'age in the posts.....

Oh yes, some posts are cryptic.

deere actually has 4 different offerings of oil;

plus 50 hdeo; 10w30, 15w40, 0w-40 the plus 50 designates 50% extended drain intervals on jd engines with jd filters

torq gard supreme; hdeo for standard drain intervals; 5w30,10w-30,30, 15w40

plus 4; it is their automotive offering available in 5w30, 10w30, 10w-40,

turf-gard; 5w30,10w-30,10w-40,15w-40, and 10w30 break-in

i've been using their plus 50 for over 15 years with excellent results(several used oil analysis posted in hdeo section)

up until a couple of years ago i also used their plus-4 automotive oil, but with the availability of motorcraft 5 qt for 11.50 (5w-20)i save a little.

whatever the op is planning on using any deere oil in rest assured all of their oil holds up very well

John Deere has recently changed their Plus 50 (CI rated) oil and it is now called Plus 50 II (CJ rated).

I was comparing their specs to other HDEO and it seems that the Deere oil is noticeably thicker than other brands. I wonder if this is to address the different operating conditions that ag equipment runs under (more full load).

Google Plus 50 II to find lots of info. It is not API certified if that is a concern to you (not me).

Just left the J. D store here, they did not have any oil on display and I walked around for 3 or 4 minutes lookingl for it. PS, and no one in the store ask me if they could help me, so Im going to the store in Crossville tn and try there.

OK, the Deere/NAPA store in Crossville, TN has 10 or 11 quarts of the older CH-4 0w40. They won't get the new stuff until that supply is exhausted. Price was $6.50/quart.

They are also selling Mobil 1 oils at $5.80/quart, Mobil 1 0w40 included. They had some sparker oils too.

AND, they have the hard-to-get Valvoline Euro 5w40 too for $7.xx/quart.
