Does anybody know anything about this mower? Been thinking of getting one mainly for bagging and picking up leaves in the fall. Have 1/4 acre but getting old and unable to push my heavy Billygoat leaf sucker upper. Thanks.

With only a 1/4 acre, I'd get a small rear engine rider.

EDIT. You wanna bag, so my advise may not fit your needs.

It has a 42" deck which is fairly easy to maneuver, but it has only two anti-scalp wheels. It also has only a single cylinder 540cc engine. A machine that size benefits from a V-Twin engine. My MIL has an older model very similar to this, and I have the D140 V-Twin. I get done mowing much faster than she does, in spite of having more hills and trees to navigate. The E120 bumps you up to the V-Twin engine while retaining the 42" deck. I would strongly recommend that small added investment.

getting a $1000 plus mower to mainly bag up leaves is steep.

My elderly mother pays a local boy $25 to rake and bag her leaves every fall.

What year?
John Deere keeps moving the numbers around so it's hard to pin down the
engine for some years.
The current engine in the 110 is a single; but a year or two ago, it was a
Briggs twin.
It should work well enough if you don't drive to fast.

LOL the kids around here would stab me if I only paid them 25 bucks to do leaves. The others seem too lazy.

I have the L111 JD which is the same basic mower but, with a 20HP twin cylinder B&S engine. I good home owner mower that would be good for mowing up to a couple of acres if needed. JMO. I have 160 trouble free hours on mine. Ed

A little reading...

https://todaysmower.com/new-2018-john-deere-e100-series-lawn-tractor-right/

I don't rake leaves, I mulch them...
Mulching kit is available, blade and guide for under the deck...

You can delete the Easy Change oil and filter setup, and used a Fram 3600 / Purolator 20195 / Wix 51516 oil filter, and either Shell Rotella T5 semi synthetic or T6 full synthetic...

Then change the oil in the K46 transmission to 5W-50 (most folks use 15w-50, easier to find, look at NAPA)

You don't need a V-Twin for a 42" deck. A 19HP OHV single cylinder will have plenty of torque and be better on fuel. The D140 you mention should have the larger 48" deck.

Yes, my D140 has the 48" deck with three blades. My MIL has the 42" two blade deck. Hers doesn't handle tall and thick grass the way mine does. I've always assumed that this had more to do with engine power than the deck itself, but maybe I am wrong.

The larger Fram 3600 may require modifications of the side panel.
The shorter but longer that stock filter is the 3614 in the Fram numbering
system.
BUT the E100 may have that CVT transmission-Jury is still out on the value of that
feature.

The John Deere E series includes that 30 second oil change system, where the oil and filter are all in one canister. I believe that may be the only difference between it and the D series that preceded it. They offer a kit to convert it back the standard spin on filter, which is actually much smaller than the 3614. There are no clearance issues with the 3614 in my D140, but there would be with the 3600.

I believe that 30 second change canister costs $40 and contains only one quart of oil. More than half of the old oil remains in place if you change the oil this way. Why pay twice as much for half an oil change?

I have a G110 John Deere which has the 54" deck. Both the 54" and 48" decks give a better cut than the 42" deck in my opinion. The blades make a huge difference as well. If the MIL put Gator blades on the 42" it would probably handle the heavy grass a bit better. The thing with Deere is that they have many different deck designs even for the same size. The 54" I have on mine is slightly different than the 54C decks on the larger X series garden tractors which have higher blade tip speeds and therefore a better cut.

My guess would be your 48" has a higher blade tip speed than the 42" on hers.
