Job Posting - Field Service Technician

GE Healthcare looking for field service technician for North FL region. Must have associates in electronics or prior military experience in test, repair, calibration and have mechanical / troubleshooting skills. Must be willing to attend Alcon Phaco (eye surgery) equipment training and travel to hospitals within the region. Training is for 3 different types of Phaco emulsification equipment. Pay is $30 an hour with full benefits, tuition reimbursement, company car, $150 yearly safety shoe allowance, etc... Technician will be on the road 70-80% of the time, training is in Milwaukee, WI.

Sounds nice but most medical jobs only last a few months and they let you go.

Same here. I found that job with Tri-State G&T at Craig Generating Station near Craig, Colorado.

Why do you say that ?

Lots of people in healthcare with 25+ years on the job.

Great position for someone willing to WORK. If you can't work without direct supervision then I guess you wouldn't be there very long!

My wife recently released two COTA's for poor performance. It takes a special kind of employee to work all week long with no direct contact with a supervisor. Many folks just can't do it.

So they work in a facility at much lower pay...

^^^ I don't know about that, I have a team of Techs scattered throughout the western part of the US that work independently, I might touch base with them a couple times a week and actually see them in person a couple times a year. They're always where they need to be, and we all take care of business.

If you're looking to pay $10/hr, you're probably not going to find the right individual.

One of my dearest friend is a prominent retina surgeon and when I visit him sometimes I will scrub up and observe the surgery up close and personal. He would tell the other people in the room I was a Field service tech for the equipment he used and nobody would question my presence. It was fun!
