I have a 2004 Mercury Marauder with the DOHC 4.6 Engine. There is a Breather tube that goes from the valve cover to the Cold Air Induction Hose right near the throttle body.

This car has 28,000 miles and I drive it conservatively, so I did not think there would be any oil in the breather hose, I was wrong.

When I took the hose off to put this Pre Filter on there was a small amount of oil that came out. This is a great mod for anyone that has a 4.6 Engine. It seems these motors like to throw oil around the PCV System.

I do not need any oil mist getting inside my throttle body, this device is easily cleaned by using something like Brakleen.

Don't reduce flow with your modification.

If you get oil the 'wrong' way with a stock system, make sure there is not a reason. A little dampness is normal. Vapors when you turn off the engine, and actual flow when you are at full throttle or a backfire will show up. Excessive blowby will do this, also.

There is nothing wrong with an additional oil separator/filter, but if it is at the cost of flow, it is a bad trade off.

Thanks for the info, this device has a K&N type media inside, I could blow through the thing.

My small block chevy's breather tube even has a foam type filter on it.

Supposedly this device lets the air travel through but it traps the oil vapors.

I am noticing that since I have put this device on my gas mileage has gone from 23.5 m.p.g. to 24.35 m.p.g.

I may have to attribute some of this increase on m.p.g. to the fact that I am running a Maintenance Dose of MMO every other tank of gas.
