That might give one a rough idea, but you really need to put 1/2 the CCA of the battery for 15 seconds and look at the voltage for the last second. Then temp. compensate the reading.

I always like to disable the FUEL on tests like these. Sometimes as simple as putting the gas to the floor but often the relay is very accessible.

Batteries always fail without warning. A load test on a 5 year old or more battery is a service that actually is a great idea and should be done more often. Any reputable heavy truck garage will have one on hand as most trucks have 3 or 4 batteries and this time of year its on all good PM sheets. I just don't know if JIFFY is responsible enough to do it w/o ulterior motives in mind?? I went on line to AUTOZONE and somewhere in the battery section they have a calculator that said I had 0-4 months left on my 7 y/o battery so with winter coming I performed a pre-emptive strike. You really don't want to do a battery swap at night when you can't feel your fingers! Now is the time if your thinking about it. Advanced has them in their flier this month but its mis-leading as the batteries are at full price and really are NOT on sale.

No question in my mind Jiffy Lube ALWAYS wants to sell you something beyond the $20-$30 service you first went in for. In my case it was a NYS inspection. My concern is that the test they did said the battery was not good and the next day the test at AAP said it was good.

Ha! You should see them fumble around trying to test batteries in a diesel pickup with TWO batteries...the retread tried testing both mine connected (with a 100 amp load) and told me they were in questionable shape (I only had a combined 2100CA/1700CCA), duh?

He was actually going to test one side, then the other; without disconnecting the circuit between them!!! But his tester died before he could test the second one...not sure if it fired because of the extra juice or not...but it was smoking within a second of him connecting up!
