Just replying in public to what seemed to be a reasonable question... though SubLGT could've PMed me privately.

Ive not been on for a week, due to travel to give a presentation at a large conference in a very nice far away place

Anyway, I do not mind doing GC runs on various materials for better learning and understanding, and sharpening my skills though learning the analysis and comaprisson part - to the point that it helps my skills in assistance to my Ph.D Effort. For the time being, I am focused on executing programs for work, and while this requires my use of the FID and PFPD detectors for the efforts at hand, the system I am studying is different at the current time.

I have no problem using motor oils as the systems of choice for learning and training people I am working with, but it is a back-burner issue compared to what I need to be executing to get data... Of course, as I need to train people and need to do runs for people to learn to make GC methods, etc., we can gladly run GC, M1, etc through.

Just realize that I am not a petroleum laboratory, I am using the techniques that are identical to what Tom uses for analysis of fuel - it just so happens that the conditions and equipment is identical.

What people can do is arrange to send me small quantities of oils they desire to have tested. As I need to run the GC for various purposes, and as I am needing to gather data of various hydrocarbon groupngs, different petrochemical cuts (motor oils being one of them), I will run them.

I simply cant guarantee if it wil be 3 weeks or 3 months.

But PM me to set up sample shipment (Id also be interested in testing biofuels if you make any), and then Ill go from there... Ill do my best to get some data out ASAP.

Its a comparative technique, using standard methods. Id use a method that TonNJ used, and the data that he gave would be the data (with the appropriate reads) that my runs would get.
