It would be rare to find a life insurance policy that covers death from flying your own airplane, or being in any sort of motorsport race. Those are almost always specifically written out.

But here's the issue, you cannot fly it over any populated areas, even a town with 50 people in it since that qualifies as a "settlement".

- Private Ranches and Farms: Your best and safest option.
- Open Deserts and BLM Land: Much of the open land in the American West (Bureau of Land Management land) is perfectly legal for ultralight flight, provided you aren't bothering wildlife or campers.
- Ultralight Airparks: There are dedicated rural airfields across the country specifically built for ultralights, powered paragliders, and experimental aircraft to take off and land freely.
