in my liberty i use 80w-90 st in front diff. and st 75w-90 semi in rear diff. i also do not tow. no problems in 7 years. mike

do know that the common belief is that these axles really have no need for 140 weight oil. Plenty of heavier vehicles doing just fine on 90. there is some speculation that chrysler calls for 140 weight to make up for the occassional manufacturing defect. While these axles do not have a high rate of failure, they are still known to have some, mostly associated with pinion-related issues-- seals, noise.

all of this is speculation--- but 90% of the info on this board is based on personal experience and not hard engineering studies. ymmv.

I'll see your statement and raise you with this ...

... most of the info rhetoric on this board is based on personal experience unfounded bias and not hard engineering studies or real world data fully analyzed with sound statistical methodology.

you need to go over to jeepforum.com and ask these questions about what equipment came in your jeep, this an oil forum where you will potentially learn the best fluid for your application but jeepforum is where you will learn what your application is. JF is pretty much the most "mature" jeep forum on the net ive been a member there for many years and they are the BITOG crowd of JEEP forums. I am a big JEEP guy but i dnt mess with IFS type(so called) offroad vehicles.

Your front diff does not have trac-loack or LS only rear diffs (a google search will teach you how LS works). If your asking why a manual would suggest dino....thats becuase they make the assumption that you are going to threr dealership where they will also sale you another bottle of stuff to add to the dino fluid (friction modifiers)

OK after simply looking at the "sticky's" at jeepforum in the KK section..........

I can tell you that YOU DO NEED A LS ADDITIVE as you have a 8.25 chrysler corp. rear with 3.73:1 ratio with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) and All-speed Traction Control

this took me a total of ten minutes......
