Jeep/Chrysler Switch to OAT!

I was looking at the 2014 Jeep Patriot owners manual and was shocked to see they now recommend a 10 year/150,000 mile change interval.

AND, the manual now lists OAT type coolant!

Is Chrysler following Ford's lead and are other MOPAR models switching to OAT also??

What do you mean, OAT coolant? Whats their exact wording?

Nearest I can figure Chrysler doesn't even have a Mopar branded OAT specific (non hybrid) coolant.

It's not so much Chrysler following Ford or GM, it is actually following what FIAT does.

When it comes to fluids and related items you can get a good idea of the direction Chrysler is going by looking at FIAT models.

Chrysler's previous 2001-2012 coolant (rust color) was thanks to Daimler Benz owning them at the time.DB used a similar coolant.Ford followed suit afterwards.

Chrysler has been running HOAT coolant for over a decade. Very similar, if not the same as Motorcraft Gold, G05. The interval may have changed, but the use of OAT is not new.

I don't understand your comment. The use of OAT is new for Chrysler and Ford. HOAT and OAT are completely different coolants.

Chrysler claims their OAT is not like other Dexcools and does not contain 2EHA.

Good to see Chrysler moving out of the dark ages in some aspects. A professional MOPAR dealer mechanic friend of mine says he has noticed "better things" since Fiat came into the picture, regarding quality aspects.

i mentioned a yr. ago that eventually all cars will be going to the oat antifreeze such as final charge by peak and clear choice. because of deposits and heater core failures from the go5 grenn and others....no more green for me and go5 is out of my vehicles a year and a half ago...

Somebody enlighten me on the G-05 heater core failures? I've had it retrofitted in the '82 300D for 6 years & it came in the 6.0 PSD van I drove from '04-'12 with no issues whatsoever.

These car mfg's are NUTS! No way I would run 10 years or 150K on any AF. Not happening. That is as ridiculous as lifetime gear lube or 10 year 100K+ transmission fluid. Nope.
