Jacked up car at wrong point, plastic guard damage

On my camry, I've jacked up the car many times and the plastic guard, under the door would bend up. Yesterday, I made the same mistake on the taurus which is a heavier car. and the jack just pushed right thru the rubber part under the door, and now that area is elevated. How can I fix this myself or will a mehcnaic or body shop fix it and how much for, or is it an easy diy fix? the issue is, with the camry, it's fine if it goes up, but with the taurus, the issue is it's affecting the opening and closing of the door because that plastic guard is now grinding against the door when you open / close it and paint has come off the door which will lead to future rust, so what can I do to prevent this or is there an easy, cheap fix to this other than replacing that bottom plastic guard under the door, and was it because the jack (2 ton) can't support the car or was it because I jacked it too far away from the wheel, or too close? You put the jack just beyond the wheel just beyond where you can slip in a jack stand, is that right? any closer or further from the wheel could cause damage, or was it because of vehicle weight? i was using a meijer pro lift 2 ton jack and the car's 3900 pounds, I heard, so did it happen because i was nearing capacity?

People make mistakes. I'm a novice and I just want to know how to fix cars/work on my cars because it saves a lot of money. Yes, i make mistakes, but i'm here for constructive criticism, not for mockery or being made fun of.

will do. i'll post them later. wait, can you even attach pictures here? like an email attachment? it seems it must be a link/hyperlink so it must be an online picture and i don't have access like that, but i could post a picture if it were on my computer and i attached it like in an email
but we'll see what i can do about sending a picture. it is hard to explain but hopefully it can be fixed

Body frame.

Jack up from the body frame area that will hold your jack, look in the car manual see if there is any help there. I have been doing this for so long, i just lay on the floor where I can see points to set up the jack and then find a second point for the jack stand. I prefer to use frame parts myself but if your manual shows you a body area that can be used then you can go with that.

others will help you with the damage, IF you post some pics!

no offense meant but this post really cracked me up! sorry... also not being mean but perhaps you could get some help if you are not knowledgeable enough to do this before you hurt yourself or someone else, not to mention the vehicle.

Which banned troll is this again? I cant keep them all straight anymore.

to OP: Its not easily fixable. I'd suggest reading the owners manual before jacking on random spots under car.

Also some punctuation is always nice instead of a giant solid turd of text.

I'm calling this trolling.. no pics outlandish posts.. mmm hmmm.

Yea, I cannot be brought into this again.....

Oh wait, I just was!

I've bent some pinch weld spots that were meant to be used for lifting. It happens, not sure why it happens but it does. I try to lift on subframes and rear diff/beams if possible now.

Please post pics.

because the "meant to be lifted on pinch welds"

need an oem scissor jack or a pinch weld adapter on a floor jack to support them.

OP- I have basically the same car, south of that plastic rocker cover, you'll see a "pinch weld" seam where the floor pan is welded to the side panel.(same as most any unibody car), just be hind the wheel, you'll see two marks on that seam, about the width of a jack head apart. you are to lift from THAT point. same just in front of the wheel in the back. (again, just like any modern unibody car.)

that said, and i've not tried it myself, but ive heard tell that this particular body is stiff/strong enough that you could lift the whole side from the b-pillar like a nascar... again, not tried it myself, not willing to, but i've heard it said....

I have found with a Taurus the best place to lift with a floor jack is under the subframe mount. You will see a large bolt in the rear corner of the subframe. Put the floor jack there. With the factory scissor jack put it under the pinch weld about 1 foot behind the wheel well.

When in doubt, consult the owners manual.
