There was an old full size sedan (1965ish Chrysler) around here being used as a work truck that had the exhaust pipe coming up through the rear passenger floorboard and out the roof with a flapper on it. It did have pipe wrap on it for safety. Had a pic on a previous phone. How can that possibly be legal?
