After the terrible tragedy in Spain the terrorists supposedly informed the Spanish that since Spanish soldiers were going to be withdrawn from Iraq, there would not be additional attacks in Spain. But recently explosives of a similar type used in the train explosions were found under the rails for a high speed train line. It would seem that terrorists cannot be taken at their word and it would seem that it mattered little if the Spanish removed their troops from Iraq or not.

In addition, explosives have been found at least twice and maybe three times under French railroad tracks. France tried to prevent war between Iraq and the USA but that behavior apparently did not prevent terrorists from trying to attack France.

I think all of this also indicates that we really need to watch our railroads. These terrorists sometimes seem to be lacking in imagination and do the same things in several countries.

In England terrorists were arrested who apparently were planning on bombing 'soft targets' such as pubs and shopping malls.

I think all countries of the world need to work together to defeat these terrible people who are willing to attack and murder and maim innocent people.

There is also an increasing use of small children to attack Israel. I don't know how low some human beings can sink.

I don't recall reading about that.

I never thought that the Spanish vote was an appeasement to terrorists, or in any way caving in to them.

I still don't.

The terrorists are supposed to have sent that message after the election was already over.

Mystic, you have done it again.

I don't know what I have done again, but everything in the above post is correct according to FOX News. Over the past several days there have been reports on explosives found under rails for a high speed train in Spain, explosives found two or maybe three times under railroad tracks in France, and terrorists arrested in England and a half ton of explosives found there. There have also been arrests of terrorists in Turkey and in Europe and there have been suicide terrorist attacks using women in a Moslem country (I can't remember how to spell the name of the country). If reporting the truth is 'doing it again' then I am guilty.

In the case of Spain, the terrorists are supposed to have sent information to the effect that they were not going to attack Spain again. This was after the elections were over in Spain. But explosives were found under the Spanish rail tracks not too long after that, with explosives of the same type as had been used in the railroad bombings in Spain.

If reporting the truth is somehow wrong at this web site, then this web site is in trouble. Unless FOX News is telling lies all of the above is the truth.

And if all of the above is the truth (I assume FOX News is telling the truth) then the terrorists are planning on attacking many countries and not just the United States of America. Even countries like France that tried to prevent war between the United States and Iraq. This to me indicates that terrorism is a problem for all of the countries of the world and all of the countries of the world better do something to stop this terrorism.

Now, if you have a problem with my post, spell it out point by point. Don't tell me that I have 'done it again.' Give me point by point what is wrong with the facts above.

"In England terrorists were arrested who apparently were planning on bombing 'soft targets' such as pubs and shopping malls ."

That does it.
Now my wife and I REALLY #@$%$@&&^ hate terrorists.

The Bud folks better ramp up security !

There were I think eight people arrested in England (I think they were British citizens but all eight were originally from the Middle East). A half ton of explosives were found.

This is according to FOX News which is a major news channel. It would be big time news if somebody could prove that FOX News is lying about the arrest in England, the terrorists attacks involving women in a Moslem country, the attempted attacks using children against Israel, and the bombs found under railroad tracks in Spain and France.

Maybe somebody can provide proof that FOX News is lying. And maybe they can provide proof that FOX News is lying here at this post. It will be interesting to see if anybody can provide proof that all of the above is not correct information.

Some of the stuff you have posted from Fox, I have found on Reuters too, such as the explosives recently found on the Spanish rail line. With the anti Bush slant of much of Reuters' reporting, I can hardly see them as part of the right wing conspiracy. What I would like to know is how much of the major media can ignore important stories like the Spanish explosives.

Edited to add this: Just took a little break, and my local paper has a short AP story buried in the middle on the Spanish explosives. Maybe Fox is making some stuff up, but it doesn't look like it on this one.

Am I the only one that saw the story on Clarke testifying before the 911 Commission that his book wasn't the truth? I have posted that on the Clarke's book thread several times. I notice it seems to be ignored rather than refuted.

If the liberals would stick to the facts, I wouldn't resent all this political crap so much. Of course, it might not leave them much.

I just now found an article in my local newspaper about the explosives found under a Spanish rail line. Also, according to FOX News, there is a chase taking place right now as I type this in Spain. Police are trying to catch three suspects believed to be connected to the train bombings in that country. One suspect detonated an explosive device that killed a policeman and several people were injured.

I am still waiting for the person who likes to dispute my postings to reply with information that indicates what I have posted here is incorrect. Or is the only thing I am going to get is that I am 'doing it again.' Ultimately most if not all news agencies are going to cover the current story in Spain. Are all of the news agencies lying?

labman, Clarke worked eight years with the Clinton administration. He also worked for the first Bush and Reagan. Anybody who can watch and read the news can see that Bush has done more then Clinton ever did against terrorism, at least since 9-11. It is obvious to me that Clarke has a grudge against the Bush administration. Clinton has far more to answer for then Bush. Clinton launched a few cruise missiles. Bush took out the al Qaeda bases in Afganistan and rightly or wrongly removed Saddam Hussein from power. There is no way that Clarke can in honesty say that Clinton did more then Bush in the war on terrorism.

The heading off of this particular potential attrocity gives me a positive feeling, in that a lot of the information that the Police used to defuse it was (allegedly) supplied by the Muslim community, the vast majority of which are against terror.

It's a start.

Okay, I will check out my own post-using a fair and balanced approach.

I titled this post 'It did not seem to help.' Terrorists are supposed to have sent a message to the Spanish to the effect that they would not attack Spain again since the new government was saying that they would withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq if the UN does not take over in June or July. NOW, I WAS NOT MAKING ANY STATEMENT THAT SPAIN WAS GIVING UP TO TERRORISTS. The terrorists apparently made this statement AFTER the new government in Spain had taken over. Getting past that, a bomb very similar to the explosives used in the train bombings was found under a high speed train rail in Spain. And today, Spanish police were chasing three terrorists. A bomb was exploded by the terrorists apparently killing three terrorists and killing a Spanish policeman, and wounding several people, including eleven policemen. I therefore think the title of this post is accurate-it seems terrorists will attack Spain regardless if Spain withdraws its troops or not.

France tried to prevent war between Iraq and the USA. But two or three bombs have been found under French railroad tracks. It does not seem to matter that France tried to prevent war between Iraq and the USA.

There have been bombings, explosives found, terrorist attacks, terrorists arrested, in Spain, France, Turkey, a Moslem country where three women have carried out terrorist attacks (can't remember the name of the country offhand), England and Israel.
I therefore think it can be said that all countries, and not just the USA, have problems with terrorists. I therefore think my statement that all countries need to work together to defeat terrorism is justified.

Recently there have been incidents where small children are apparently tricked into carrying bombs. The terrorists then detonate the bombs and kill the child and as many Israelites as they can. To me, this is the lowest form of human behavior. But I am old fashioned and I believe in a 'moral code;' I believe that there is right and wrong. To an ultra-liberal, everything may be relative. There may not be any right and wrong, no absolute truths, and whatever a given situation requires is okay-it is all relative. This may be what many of these people have been taught in the schools. To an ultra-liberal, anything the terrorists (the ultra-liberal would consider them liberators) do to destroy the 'evil' Israel is alright. There is nothing I can say about this-it is a completely different way of looking at the world. I will continue to keep my moral code.

Spain gets more orders from the terrorists.
Seems the Socialist's dodge of pulling Out of Iraq and moving more troops to Afghanistan won't cut it for the terrorists... imagine that!! Will the Spanish cave?? Stay tuned!!

MADRID, Spain April 3 — A bomb found under a train track was made of the same type of explosives used in last month's Madrid terror bombings, Interior Minister Angel Acebes said Saturday, as train service was restored on the high-speed rail line.
Investigators have said the March 11 bombings were carried out with Spanish dynamite Goma 2 Eco. The attack killed 191 people and injured 1,800.

On Friday morning, authorities immediately stopped six bullet trains using the Madrid-Seville line after the discovery of the 26-pound bomb under a track about 40 miles south of Madrid. The bomb failed to detonate because it wasn't properly connected, officials said.

No train was near the site when the bomb was discovered, state rail officials said. But about 1,600 passengers left their trains and were taken to their destinations by charter buses. Train service was restored Saturday.

"The explosives (found Friday) are the same as those used on March 11, but at this moment the investigation is continuing ... to try to determine who is behind it," Acebes told reporters, confirming an initial analysis.

Also Saturday, the Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported that the Spanish Embassy in Egypt received a letter from an Islamic militant group threatening new attacks if Spain doesn't withdraw its troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the letter, The Brigade of Abu Hafs al-Masri, a group that also claimed responsibility for the March 11 attacks, threatened to strike against Spanish diplomatic missions in North Africa and the Mediterranean region unless Spanish troops are withdrawn in four weeks.

A Spanish diplomat in Cairo, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the embassy received a threatening letter signed by Abu Hafs after the commuter train attacks last month.

The United States believes the Abu Hafs group lacks credibility and has only tenuous ties to al-Qaida. In the past, the group has claimed responsibility for events to which they were not connected such as last summer's blackouts in North

The discovery of the bomb on Friday rattled a country still traumatized by the March 11 attacks in Madrid, which officials believe may have been carried out by an Islamic extremist group from Morocco. Authorities on Friday stepped up security on Spain's entire rail network and used soldiers to provide surveillance.

Judge Teresa Palacio, a magistrate at the National Court, said Friday there was no evidence pointing to either the armed Basque separatist group ETA or the al-Qaida terror network in the failed attack. ETA has targeted Spanish rail lines in the past.

Because the bag was dry and the ground was wet, authorities believe it was placed at the scene Friday. A 450-foot-long cable attached to a detonator looked new.

Acebes said Friday the bomber or bombers may have been scared away by security guards as they planted the device. There was no warning about the bomb, he said.

The line where the bomb was found mainly serves Spain's AVE bullet trains, which have a maximum speed of 190 mph, although some slower trains also use it.

Spain's entire rail system will get a new security system employing helicopters, four-wheel-drive cars and armored vehicles from the Spanish army.

Also Friday, a Spanish judge charged a 15th suspect in the March 11 bombings on four commuter trains, Spain's worst terror attack. The government has said its investigation is focused on the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, which has links to al-Qaida.

Six of the 15 suspects detained in the March 11 bombings are charged with mass murder, while the remaining nine are accused of collaborating with or belonging to a terrorist organization.

Otman El Gnaout, a Moroccan, was jailed Friday on terrorism charges. Eleven of the 15 suspects are Moroccan.

Judge Juan del Olmo, the investigating magistrate, has issued international arrest warrants for five Moroccans and a Tunisian, identified as Sarhane Ben Abdelmajid Fakhet and described as the leader of the group suspected of carrying out the attacks. America and Britain.

A policeman and three men suspected of carrying out the Madrid train bombings have been killed in an explosion in a suburb of the Spanish capital.
The blast was set off by the suspects as police closed in on an apartment in Leganes, south-west of Madrid, Interior Minister Angel Acebes said.

Eleven police officers were hurt in the blast, some of them seriously.

Police said they had been looking for three men of Moroccan origin in connection with the 11 March attacks.

"The special police agents prepared to storm the building and when they started to execute the plan, the terrorists set off a powerful explosion, blowing themselves up," Mr Acebes said.

"There are three that blew themselves up, but the possibility of more is not ruled out.

"Police believe some of the terrorists... could have been some sought by the security forces as the alleged perpetrators of the killings of March 11."

Evacuation

Mr Acebes said the police operation began on Saturday evening, when officers approached an apartment in a block in Leganes.

He said that gunfire was exchanged, after which other residents in the building and the surrounding area were evacuated.

Police then cordoned off the area, he said, before a team of them re-entered the apartment block.

It was at that point that a huge explosion was set off in the apartment that the police were seeking to search.

Ongoing investigation

Mr Acebes said this police operation came as part of the ongoing investigation into the 11 March attacks on commuter trains in Madrid, in which 191 people died.

Islamic militants connected to Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network are thought to have carried out the Madrid bombings.

Fifteen people have already been arrested in connection with the attacks.

Earlier on Saturday, Mr Acebes said tests had confirmed that a bomb found on a high-speed railway line the day before contained the same explosive as the Madrid bombs.

But he added that it was still too soon to draw any conclusions about who planted the unexploded device.

Army vehicles and helicopters are patrolling key parts of the Spanish rail network following Friday's alert.

Thanks Eric. I guess that proves it is not just FOX News telling lies.

I like that 'I voted for John Kerry and then I voted against him.' That sounds just like John Kerry. He is on all sides of an issue-or whatever side looks good at the time.

Dunno, even the local left-wing Communist rag, errr, newspaper had the bomb in Spain on the front page. No surprise really.
