My 98 Forester occasionally throws a P0440, which usually means the fuel filler neck is bad in these Subarus.

OE from the dealer is over $200. Spectra Premium is $120 give or take, Liland is $80 or so after shipping, Dorman is around the same price as Liland, and then there is cheap fuel filler neck on Amazon for only $32 :sneaky:

Since it's a cheap Amazon product, it has one of those weird names, in this case SOKAKOSC

I don't need it right now, since my car recently passed inspection.

I would apply my 'how easy is it to install' rule.

If it is an easy 30-60 minute job, then I wouldn't hesitate to try it.

If it is a real bugger to replace and takes a lot of cursing and time, pony up for a 'known good' piece.

Although, it is just some metal piping and hoses, one would think they couldn't screw it up too badly.
