Its suitable for transmissions that call for mineral/conventional 80w90 GL4.

That’s the stuff my Toyota manuals are supposed to use, but I run Pennzoil Synchromesh in them, it’s a lot thinner in winter conditions. Around 0F regular 80W-90 gear oil is like stirring a bucket of jello with the shifter!
Sure, if you want to put a 90w in place of a 30w. Might be ok on the hottest summer days, but even syncromesh can be a pain to shift at 15f.
The viscosity is as recommended for the application. My preference would have been Redline MTL.

A bit high in viscosity (17 cSt@100C) for a 90 grade transmission oil; most come in around 14 cSt.
Is this the product you're discussing?
They make no claims of improved shifting so the proper friction modification chemistry may not be there.

What car, what transmission?
I used to use Castrol Syntrans V-FE 75W-80 (Transmax Manual V 75W-80 now)
for almost four years. It feels virtually the same as VW G 052 527 & G 052 171.
Why I run VW G 052 527 again? Just because I have some bottles left of them.
If your MT calls for a 75W-80 GL-4 I would highly recommend Syntrans V-FE/
Transmax Manual V 75W-80.

Thanks guys, the car is not mine, it belongs to a friend in Southern Europe, so temps get quite high. He favours Castrol products in his British car.
In Europe, it is easy to get synthetic Castrol Transmax Manual 75w90. There are two versions: Multivehicle and Transaxle; either should be suitable for your car.
Redline MT90. I feel if your going to really push it this is the way to go.

100% synthetic ester based Motul GEAR 300 Racing Gear Oil provides excellent low-temperature flow and zero shear loss. It is suitable for dog-ring and synchro transmissions / transaxles (not recommended for clutch-type limited slip).
What would a recommendation be if an electriclly operated wet clutch Overdrive were coupled and shared lubricant with the transmission ?
