Is this a genuine Aisin waterpump?

I bought this timing belt kit on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/384292326810?hash=item59799b8d9a:g:dRkAAOSwLRhg-1xP for my Sequoia. Condition was marked as new even though it had been opened. Here is what it looks like. No Aisin name anywhere on it.

I look on the Rock Auto webpage for this pump and see that pump does have Aisin cast in the upper right: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1872368&cc=1418396&pt=2208&jsn=859&jsn=859 but when I check on Amazon, the pump there doesn't:

So now I'm more confused. Could the unmarked pumps still be Aisin but maybe made in China? Did the seller switch out the Aisin pump and put in a generic one?

I don't think you got an Aisin pump

The castings have several major differences

I'd send it back and rebuy from a reputable seller

RockAuto, Amazon carefully (sold by Amazon.com)

Looks the same as the other side in the Rock Auto picture. Same brown plastic impeller.

ebay? probably 50%-70% chance its not
there is a chance they have changed the casting but that doesnt happen to often.

you probably got the same pump someone(s) else returned a few times for not being genuine.. eventually someone will keep it.

Do a search on ebay for the Aisin t-belt kit for this application. You should find some pictures of legitimate open-box kits for sale. Compare the pictures.

If you're looking for the Aisin pump specifically, I would err on the side of caution and return that for a replacement from a reputable seller.

The cast is identical between these two pictures. I'm confused. Perhaps the fact that the photo is overexposed thereby causing some features of the casting to wash out is confusing people.

Hard to say. I bought a Toyota/Aisin WP for my Tacoma and the word "Toyota" was ground off the casting, something about the website listing and authorized retailers? It is a genuine Aisin part and works great. If you are in doubt, I would return it and pay a little more for the high quality stuff. Water pumps usually are not a difficult job but still you don't want to do it twice, or twice as often lol.

IMO the amazon one is possibly fake too.. I have gotten more fake aquapel from amazon than ebay.. believe it!

Ahh ok. Ya.. It's not AISIN but OEM (Auto parts manufacturer). I wouldn't pay AISIN prices for it. In any case the casting is the same other than some cosmetic markers.

Yes, I’d return it. It looks sketchy. Even the cheapest $38 wp on Rock looks better than that. Google “counterfeit aisin water pump” and look at the results. I think something from Rock is the way to go.
