I found them for under $25 delivered to my location on several Google sites. They list for $2.47 each, so even if you pay that at a dealer, you are near $22 with tax.

The only way to determine the grade is to see the end marks or find some literature somewhere describing them. The dealer parts computer might show this.

Good luck.

I found that my Chevy dealer was the best place to get lower control arm bolts. And they were $9 ea. I'm pretty cheap but it was worth it having the correct grade for a mission critical part.

When you think about failure of a trailer hitch, why go cheap?

Can you look around parking lots for other 4-runners and see what they have for strength markings on bolt heads? Maybe at the toyota/ lexus dealer?

That's your best bet when it comes to critical bolts like this, unless you know the grade and buy them from a quality manufacturer you run the risk of cheap cheesy bolts from god knows where that may be junk even with the correct markings.

Our Asian friends are very good at duplicating markings on things like electronic components and high grade bolts.

Generic hardened bolts are not to hard to find. Fine threaded metric ones can be a bit difficult to find locally but they are out there. Do you have a Fastenall store in your area?

McMaster-Carr has them in 10.9.

Toyota lists those as 12mm x 1.25, probably in grade 10.9. McMaster-Carr, who I typically go to for bolts rather than drive around, doesn't offer 12mm in fine pitch. MSC Direct does, but only in lots of 100. Fastenal also carries them. If there isn't a Fastenal in your area, the dealer may be your only option.

Ace is the place. I needed a 12mm X 150mm bed bolt for the Rat. Ridiculous money for a rusty ol' truck. 11$ per. I re-tapped the hole for a 1/2 thread. Ace had 12mm bolts up to about 50 mm

I have a local retailer that sells nothing but bolts, nuts and washers (Bolt Supply House). Large warehouse with both customer-accessible aisles and counter sales.Last ones I bought were for seat mounts, which carry a mandatory strength criteria for collision safety. There is literally no fastener you cannot buy from them, $5 minimum charge. Cheaper than the dealer and super convenient.

You can order by the usual criteria or bring in the fastener and they mic the thread pitch, threaded and unthreaded length, determine the grade and material + finish, and two minutes later return with your fastener. Because of the minimum charge, you just add whatever to the order to total the $5 and you are done.
