Is there a larger capacity filter for 1.8T Passat?

I am looking to add a little capacity to my small sump for my 99 VW Passat 1.8T. I have heard there might be a larger filter that fits the engine. Is this a good idea? Or is it better to stick with the stock Mann filter. Any recommendations on filters?
I also have heard that the stock filter has a check valve which protects the turbo somehow??? Can anyone "school me" on this??

NAPA Gold 1333 - It's a monster but fits fine. It's a lot bigger than the stock filter, has an anti-drainback valve, and the bypass pressure is very close to that of the stock filter.

I'm runing it on my '99 and will continue using this filter.

It's mentioned in that ClubB5 thread that I think you posted in. I think Rusty may have referenced a link to more discussion of it.

I believe that Napa uses the Wix number system where you add a "5" to get the Wix number. If so, this is a Wix 51333. Wixfilter.com has a nice lookup feature where you can look up the specs and applications for any of their line.

The 51333 references applications in the Porsche 911 and the Audi sourced Volvo 740 Diesel engine. I'm not surprised if it uses the same base plate configuration as the 1.8 l Passat motor given the close relationship between VW, Audi and Porsche.
