Is there a "best" rinse oil?

Is there a "best" rinse oil for after Auto-RX? The van is almost ready. Thinking of using either plain Havoline 10w30 or Max Life 10w30 or if y'all think it would be okay, diesel 15w40 since warmer weather is almost here. 87 Astro 4.3L, 123k. For right now, NAPA Gold filters.

Another question, the Auto-RX instructions say to rinse for 2-3000 miles, then change the filter and add Auto-RX for another 1000 miles. Okay, but no mention of changing the oil after the rinse for the second Auto-RX application. Is it okay to change the oil after the first rinse when I put the second dose in? I don't mind doing it.

Remeber, the rinse has to be done with pure conventional oil. Maxlife has ester, so it would not be suitable. I'm just now doing auto-rx on some cars, and picked up a case of Chevron 10w30 for .69/quart. Go with what's cheapest!

Oh, and my instructions did say to change the filter after 2,000 miles of the first rinse IF your doing a second application at that point (for vehicles over 100K). Although I just cut open the filter on my Dad's Blazer after running auto-rx for about 2,000 miles (first time), and there was no crud/sludge in it at all. Looked like any other filter I've cut open.

Maybe it was just too clean inside, as it has never missed a 3,000 mile oil change in it's 150K history. It runs a crap load better though, and is registering about 2-3 more MPG on the trip computer; has more power as well.

I know, I'm asking if I should change the oil at that time too. I probably will anyway.

Whooooops. I broke my glasses a week ago and am missing things left and right. I'd just use the oil that's already in there; no sense in dumping oil with only 2,000 miles on it.

Change the oil.Use your "plain Havoline 10w30".Save the Max Life for later.

I'm thinking I'll do the rinse, second application, and second rinse with Havoline. This should take me until fall. After that I plan to run Durablend 5w30 in winter and 10w30 in summer, changing twice a year should be fine. I had been alternating between plain Valvoline and Max Life changed every 3 months. Gotta support the local product.
