Is there any motor oil that would work the best with an Auto-RX cleaning and rinse? For example, some High Mileage oils have esters and probably would not be so good because the esters in the oil might interfere with the esters in Auto-RX. And synthetic oils are supposed to not be used at least for the rinse period.

So probably some brand of conventional motor oil would be best, but which one? There are differences in the various conventional motor oils.

Valvoline conventional, for example, apparently has relatively low additive content. Would that make Valvoline a candidate?

Diesel conventional oils often have very have detergent amounts. Would that high detergency help the Auto-RX?

Interesting question Mystic.

I would think a High Detergent Diesel Type Group II/III.

How about a Group I with its extra aromatics and a pretty decent amount of Detergent like Mobil DriveClean.

Can't wait for one of the big dogs chime in with a answer.

for 1500 miles, I recommend Super Tech xW30

I would run the HDEO after the treatment, not during, since ARX is doing all the cleaning...

IIRC Frank told me cheap dino, like Supertech. Kind of nice that you can run cheap stuff in these treatment and rinse phases where your OCIs are shortened to 1500 to 2000 miles. If I were doing it, I would use the 50 cent Citgo Superguard at my local Dollar General.

One items to note is: the weight of the oil.. I just ordered some Auto-Rx for the 89 Honda. I plan on putting in a 5W-20 oil.. I hope that the thin oil will flow into tight places quicker..

Any thoughts Frank?

I am using Castrol GTX 5w30 for clean and rinse in my 99 Expy 5.4. 400 mile to go until rinse cycle.
