I'm not sure if it matters or not but why not wait until your next OCI and add the full bottle of LM then? I had the same urge to try it as you and wanted to do the same thing, I waited until I changed my oil and then added it. As I said it might not matter, but I wanted everything to be fresh, the oil and filter. JMO

Let us know how things work out.

I always add a full bottle of LM for the first OCI then I use 1/2 after that. Engines seem to run like silk when using this product. Hopefully long term it has no negative effects on the engine.

Why would there be negative effects?

Some people believe that Mos2 can be harmful to yellow metals. I've now spoken with two chemists that supply companies with MoS2, and both stated the product is safe for use in engines and harmless to yellow or soft metals in engines. I also spoke to a tech person for Lubro Moly in the US (IIRC), and he backed up the two chemists statements. So as far as I can tell the product is harmless to use, and as others reported they've had positive results using it, myself included. HTH

I agree with the person who said he starts off with a full bottle then uses half a bottle after. I will probably do the same thing. JMO

Thanks for the info. I assume yellow metals are copper and brass and possibly others.

yea.. I check out mobil 1 5w30. it have Molybdenum 155 ppm..

it is the reason why the oil turn black at 5000 highway miles. using m1. too much moly..

I've only seen 2 UOA's using the Lubro-Moly additive for a full OCI.
The First was on a Diseil VW, and the other was on a front end loader.
They both looked good, however I am interested in seeing some UOA's in gas powered cars.

I would love to stock up on a new additive, but am unsure until I see more proof and can justify it.

Does anyone have a UOA on the way? I would love to see some trending with and without this additive. Particularly a before and after to see how much Moly stays behind.

In my case, it stopped a mower from blowing smoke on start up, now two seasons. Seems to have lowered operating temps in my 93 Aerostar, but I want to double check with my digital thermometer. I wish I would have checked the operating temps of the mower before and after the LM treatment.

Well I drive 600 mile trip 2 to times a month every time i ever did it i got 31 31.5 mpg.

This time with a oil change of PP 5w 30 oil and lubro moly added i got 34 mpg this time on my trip.

only other changes with the car was a trans fuild change. not sure what happened but some thing caused my mpg to go up.
Just putting it out there

Nice report, one question. Did you maintain the same tire pressure? Reason I ask it the anti LM camp will ask that question, I figure I'll beat them to it.

LOL. With the rotten economy I've spent a lot of time here. I'm just getting ready for what is coming from up around the bend!

Others have reported similar gains, so it is possible. Enjoy, and don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

Ive just recently added some after having 6 bottles in stash for months,i noticed something but to early to confirm.

this stuff coats well so after the initial bottle i'd say 1 oz per qt is good,a good amount stays in your engine after the drain so full strength is not needed after.

That's the opinion I have too after using it for a little while now. I think an initial treatment of a full bottle followed by 1 ounce/qt is all you'll need.
