Is "The Office" the worst TV program ever

I watched the very 1st episode of "office", but that was it...never really liked it enough to keep watching..

Right now, my favorite is "The Book of Daniel". I think it's great, and a refrehing eye opener compared to things like "7th Heaven".

The office is a copy of a british show of the same name. Three's company was a copy of a british show of the same name. Hollywood is so berefit of creativity, they have resorted to copying. Also, the "talent" wanted for writing these shows is very young, so all you get is shallow, no time to develop any subtlety.

I dont watch much new tv anymore at all. Just buy dvds of shows I like and watch them.

Pete, I haven't seen Nip/Tuck (Eeeew!

) because I don't have cable tv. I get like 7 channels over the air.

has anyone caught that british show "Keeping up Appearances"? It's on PBS here and hysterical. I like that Onslow guy.

I've seen a bit of it but couldn't get into it. I mostly like the older classics like 'Are you being Served?' and 'Fawlty Towers.' 'Coupling' is a pretty good newer show.

Does anybody know a BBC series calles "Mind your language"? it's about a English as a foreign language class...I saw it in SriLanka during the 80's...I wish I could find a DVD of it..it was hilarious.

I haven't had aerial or cable TV since I moved to Lynden almost two years ago. I don't miss it either.

Now "Columbo" and "The Twilight Zone"... THOSE were great shows!

My *** and I thought I was the only one watching Battlestar Gallactica. I remember watching the only season as a kid then that awful sequel in 1980. Then the mini-series "V" was good. You're right about the new one being excellent, even if you're not into sci-fi. Let's hope the new firefly is just as good.

Actually, the average American audience won't watch a foreign show because they don't want to have to deal with what they consider "accents" and a foreign sense of humor -- so foreign shows get adjusted to taste and remade. And naturally they get ruined along the way. Last example: the British show 'Coupling.'

Am I the only one who enjoys 'Lost' and '24'?

I watch '24'. I haven't hooked on 'Lost' though. Maybe because I was out of the country when it started.

One other show I watch is Nip/Tuck on FX. I know it's not a very ambitious series, but for whatever reason, I can't stop watching it. And it's not the gross surgery scenes - I usually look away when they come on.

I guess it's some of the raw/obnoxious dialogs along with all the new ideas of "how else can I modify my body" that makes it interesting.

I've seen a few of the UK Office series: its a bit of an acquired taste in the original, mainly as its so embarrassingly accurate, albeit a trifle exaggerated, if you've ever been a manager. It's salutary even if you've seen lousy managers in action and done nothing to undermine!

I like it. However the British version is superior. It reminds me of the stupid things we used to do to my coworkers in a beyond boring engineering job I had.

We watched about 5 minutes of the Office the other night. Wow that is stupid. Annoying too. Seems as if the show is set up to only be enjoyed by certain personality types.

Yeah old Columbo is great.

My wife got a whole bunch of UK's "MI-5" (I guess called "SPOOKS" outside USA) DVD's - (Library - FREE) - some (most) are pretty corny, and the usual TV morals are pushed a bit much, BUT the show not only tests your acronym memory to the limit, the episodes can be real cliff hangers with some OK twists and characters actually drinking in pubs.

The original "The Office" was great...American version "so-so." If you like shows like "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Little Britain," or "Arrested Development," you'd probably go for "The Office."

Worst American television show(s)? I'd have to say pretty much anything on FOX...maybe skewed towards anything involving rebuilding people's houses, celebrity ice skating, paramilitary cop wannabes, local news, Oprah, etc.

But hey, what do I know? I watch ten hours of "This Old House" a week.
