I'm sure this has been asked before, but of the endurance is the same , why do they sell ultras still? Also, I heard the endurance has wire backing and the ultra no longer does. Is that correct? Why do they change this up so much? Do they still have the same filter rating?

Endurance wire backing. Purchased today.

The Endurance and Ultra aren't built the same ... the Endurance is wire backed, the Ultra is no longer (it was). Their efficiency are both claimed to be the same at 99+% @ 20u. There must be 100s threads on them here. The Endurance is only sold at Walmart. The Ultra is sold through many sources. The Amsoil, Royal Purple and Endurance are all basically the same filter in a different labeled can, and made by Champion Labs. The Endurance is the cheapest cost of those three.

man, if only we could get First brands to build the spin on filters this nice.
I know - right ? I recently bought a Fram Tough Guard oil filter cartridge for a relative's shorter cleaning cycle OCI and it was nicer than expected .

Thus should be stickied. Summed up thousands of posts in a short paragraph.

Guess I'll return my two xg4967 filters and get the endurance version.
You could, but then you'll be looking at the very likely possibility of bypass seal area issues. If that doesn't concern you, then yeah, it's an option.

As for the cartridges, recently seen that the Pentastar XG cartridge China coo now seen with wire backing as a Sharpie marked out Royal Purple cartridge and same as current FE for a couple bucks less. This after the Brazill coo XG that were of poor looking quality.

It’s a mess over at 4967 size headquarters. I use this size on one car and have bought quite a few now to inspect on my own. Other sizes of Fram can be different. I bought a recent XG2, and it was the old wire backing on the new media, but had other faults.
I would like to see the element on an XG4967 or FE with the plastic cage inside. I suspect they miniaturized the element but don’t know that.

IMO dumb mechanics mind I still think Donaldson is a better filter. I can’t justify buying an Endurance with their recent issues.

So, NO way is the endurance the best filter out there. OP never defined what “best “ is either.

^^^ FYI ... I never said it was the best either. That's for each person to decide what's the "best" filter (or anything else in the world) for them.

The one I'm holding in the pic above is clearly the best out there, I mean just look at it. Super-high efficiency media. Wire-backed. Not sure what else out there can touch this!

Yeah, but the white p version of the donaldson is a rock catcher basically.

The OP what was his filter? The cartridge ones may not be the same. The FE4967 size nobody knows what’s inside on the latest version. Or is it known?

Well, that’s your opinion and nobody has defined what makes it the “best”. Oops 🙊🙊🙊

What happened to the eao10 oil filter from amsoil? Looks like they make the eao09 still, but the 10 is slightly longer
