I have a 97 z28 with an a4. I am noticing that sometimes when im accelerating hard but not full wot, it shifts really jerky i think from 2nd to 3rd. It doesnt bother me much but freaks my passangers. It seems like its slipping and then catches really hard and jerks. I was wondering if its going and waht i can do to prevent it. It seems to work normal regular driving and wot. I changed my transmission fluid and filter about 1000 miles ago with dexron iii. My cooling system is working working too.

Is there anything i can do to fix this and is it an indicator or failure in the future?

BTW, how exactly do i check my trans fluid level. I took the pan off cleaned it out and i removed the line to the radiator i believe. I added 6 or 7 quarts and it seemed to work fine. When i put the dipstick in i t does have the redish liquid on the tip but i dont know how far up it is supposed to go. I had that reading at 6 and added another quart just to be safe.

Go to Autozone and get the Aamco packaged Lubegard transmission additive.

Do you think my transmission is gonna blow soon or is it just in need of an additive to smoothen it out?

If you transmission can be saved, cleaning with Auto-Rx before a complete flush and renewal is the best way to go.

Isn't there any marking on the dipstick? Could the tip and the markings be broken off?

Its important that you get the proper amount of ATF in the trans. You need to get this checked out ASAP. To much or not enough fluid can damage the trans. Don't hotrod it till you get this figured out.

Are you below or above the big mac, I am above.

my wife had a 1994 Intepid which had the same problem. Left her stranded on the HWY, internal gear failure.

My car still drives strong, so i dont think im gonna leave her anywhere. Im just worried that the jerking could get worse. If they don't have that aamco stuff, can i just get the lucas trans additive? Would that help at all? My checker is intact but its more of a temperature thing and i dont know how to check the level of atf in the system. Im gonna dump a little atf out through the line that goes to the radiator and add a quart or two plus the additive and see if it helps.

Are you sure you have enough trans fluid in? Did you check a Chilton's Manual or something to obtain the specs on capacities?

It's best to find the capacities before you go changing fluids.
