Is it worth it to use dino/conventional?

go for it man!! just run a good filter and get a uoa on the second fill.

I noticed that my Mazda 3 doesn't care what oil I put in. I've run conventional, semi-synth and synthetics in 5w20 and 5w30 forms from various oil blenders.

The car always starts the same, makes about the same noise and I do not notice any difference in general engine operation, my gas mileage was not affected either. I don't know, maybe my placebo senses are shot

I don't drive that much, about 12k miles a year, most of it is in the city or gridlocked highways. About 60% of these miles are for work commute, everything else is for running errands and short city trips (we only have one car in the family). So I never attempted extended OCI's and I never wanted to pay for UOA's, so to me conventional makes sense. I'd rather dump the oil and all the fuel, moisture and other contaminants every 6 months or so, then fret over extending the OCI's and do UOA's just to make sure I did not go over board.

Also, getting seven 5 liter jugs of PYB at $11.00 canadian makes the deal so much sweeter

Why are you running syn oil?

Syn oil has advantages and if the advantages aren't used IMO may as well stick to conventional oil . The high quality conventional oils since the 90s have been really good and are getting better.

The olm on our 04 Trailblazer is going to 83-8500(5%) miles on conventional with a 60/40% cty/hwy split with no issues.Based on this a 5-7k oci on conventional should be no problem, and yes it is cheaper than syn.
