My wife got an Android phone, the $99 LG Optimus V from Virgin Mobile which is a very basic pay as you go phone.

I am embarrassed to ask this question.... but is it possible to connect this phone directly to a printer and print or send stuff to a wireless printer ?

I know you can set up a mobile hotspot on the Optimus V for tethering.

I bought a HP e-print enabled wifi printer. If you have wi fi, you can send a document across the web to it and it will print it. It works fine for my Droid and my netbook. If you are at work and you want to print somethi g at home... just send it to your preset email address at hpeprint.com and it prints. Nice. Printer was $79 on HP.com.

Bluetooth would be my first guess....

Or wifi, if you have a wifi enabled phone....

Looks like Google has a new "Cloud Print" service available, at least available to Google Chrome users.....that allows you to "remotely print" files if you do not have printer access at your immediate location...? Could look into that...but it may be a Google Chrome exclusive at this time.....

Seems it is in "Beta" never heard of it until it appeared in the Chrome Options menu

And it appears it can be set up outside of Chrome......

Thanks for the help, I found out how to send stuff my wireless printer via Bluetooth.
I'm surprised at how nice this phone is for a pay as you go no contract phone.

I just figured out how to use the bluetooth on my phone also. Isn't that nifty.. sure is going to simply a few things. Now if I could only sync my calendars but I have a "iffy" phone. Halfway between smart and dumb I guess you'd say.

So I just have to ask... what are you printing from your phone? In the end, you're going to have to walk up to that printer to pick up the paper. Chances are, there is a PC sitting right next to that printer, in which case you might as well print it directly from that PC, and it'll be less cumbersome to do.

Are you printing photos that you took with the phone camera?

Use HP's printing app here. Unfortunately it's only available for printers with HP's eprint.

the droid bionic comes with motoprint

Most of these phones also have WI-FI and should be able to print to a network printer if you have an app.

(bluetooth printer not required just network printer in this case)

I print to my wireless brother printer just fine..
although if it was hooked up to the router with Ethernet it would work the same

You should be able to use Google Cloud Print if you have the printer connected to a PC.
