Does anyone know if i could use general motors seal tabs in a 2004 mercury grand marquis with the 4.6 v8 every 2 months i add a few drops of coolant and cant seem to find the leak i did smell a hint of coolant last year in the summer. i may just add two or three tablets to the upper radiator hose..I cant find the ford version of stop leak i believe fords part number is vc-6
the coolant is the newer motorcraft gold.

Thank you one of my rebuilders said we should not use the gm seal tabs in the ford gold or G-05 coolant..
After rebuilds and we are sure there are no leaks we normally add two General motors seal tabs to each engine some of the bigger ones we add three just in case of slight seepage so far we have great results and no problems.. He said we should use the ford VC-6 pellets but that darkens the coolant and besides we cant find them.. He said something about the electrodes and damage to the heater core

I'd use Barsleaks tablets, liquid or powder which is readily available at Walmart,Pepbots, AZ, AA etc. They are virtually the same thing and less expensive than GM or Fords own stuff. I've used them in my GM 3.1 with no problems. They are perfect for the type of leak (seep) you describe. It states on the container that it can be used with all antifreeze types. Many OEM's add it at the factory.
