I still stand with that NO ONE should depend on their oil to protect when you loose coolant. Esp with AL motors.

Stop the engine and get it fixed.

Nope it's not why I use synthetic oil because of loosing coolant. Have no problem those using conventional oil your choice.

But my MAJOR point is for all those who come here and read what we post that running syn (or conventional) will protect your engine with no worries if you loose coolant.

Coolant is VERY important (more important than oil) in today's engines. You overheat a engine, the chances of warping a head or block is REAL.

No matter what oil is in the sump. I've seen many a engine that is toast (required milling) after coolant being lost.

Good point radiator fluid loss can cause extensive engine damage very foolish to run without fluid. Shut engine down if engine is over heating or signs of radiator fluid loss. Rule number 1 don't be foolish!

Either the someone upstairs is looking after me being lucky I'll take your word on conventional oil or synthetic oil on mishap!
